The year 2020 has reprioritized the planet.   COVID 19 has also affected the Marine Industry.  We offer Electro-Static fogging with an EPA approved product that would be an appropriate step when an Owner or Crew was exposed COVID 19.   If a guest or future guest aboard is concerned about exposure through surface contact, we treat the vessel quickly without fear of damage to the interior or exposure to hazardous chemicals.   We only use Green EPA listed products.

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

“Your Path to Clean Air Starts Here”

Here’s what the IAQA suggests to clean up indoor air

  • Testing Air Quality!
  • Testing for Mold!
  • Mold Clean Up!
  • AC Clean Up – Air Handler / Fan Coil Cleaning!
  • Air Duct and Plenum Cleaning and / or Replacement!

Air Quality Testing

Air Quality Testing is a multi-faceted evaluation of the vessel’s air. Depending on the conditions aboard our Professionals will determine if testing for Humidity, VOC’s, Suspended Particulates is advisable

Humidity Level Evaluation
Measurement of Dust Particles

Mold Testing of Air and Surfaces

If mold is visible, or suspected to be a problem, our Professionals will collect Air and Surface samples for a Third-Party External Lab to evaluate, results like sample below are shared with the client.

Mold Cleanup

When testing comes back positive for mold, based on type of mold and the extent of the contamination a Clean Up strategy will be prepared. Typically the area is contained (isolated), contents are removed, or cleaned and covered while mold during clean up

Air Handler / Fan Coil Cleaning

Air Handlers / Fan Coils are a common starting point for mold infestations.  Over years of service there is normally a heavy concentration of organic materials on the coil surface and blower wheel.   In some cases, the air handler body can be cleaned in place by removing the blower to allow access to the coil and drain pan.   The blower is removed and cleaned off the vessel or replaced if in poor condition.   When the vessel is in a yard period, the entire air handler is removed and cleaned in our shop facility.

Air Duct and Plenum Cleaning and Replacement

The EPA recommends that ducting should be replaced rather than cleaned but on a boat that is often difficult.  When ducting cannot be replaced it is typically cleaned with a Roto-Brush or Compressed Air Whip with debris pulled off the boat by truck mounted vacuum or portable system.

Odor Generating Isolation  and Odor Removal

Depending on the source of the odor, our approach will vary.  When Sanitation related issues cause the problem we will suggest tank or hose replacement.   When Odors are generated by Mold or HVAC related issues, Odor removal is often accomplished with Ozone or Hydroxyl generation. Our Trained Professionals will suggest which is the best strategy to pursue based on the vessel’s specific requirements.

Marine Dehumidification (a frequently overlooked IAQ condition)

ADDITIONAL DEHUMIDIFICATION

Many Owners, Captains and Engineers ask why there are situations where additional De-Humidification is required.

The reality is that additional Dehumidification is often a necessary solution to combat load miscalculations and production oversights.   We have found that on some with Chilled Water Air Conditioning Systems have high humidity.

High humidity promotes the growth of Mold, and causes high levels of VOCs known as out-gassing, all at expense of the vessel occupants.   Runny nose, Red Eyes…we know why!
